TenaNT ENGAGEMENT REVIEW @ MONMOUTHSHIRE HOUSING: 2018
Monmouthshire Housing Association is a social housing provider that owns approximately 3,500 homes across Monmouthshire. As well as proving a landlord service it prides itself on engaging tenants to help shape the services it delivers. This enables the organisation to firmly place tenants at the heart of decision making, resulting in a service that is constantly improving and proving better value for money.
MHA reviewed its core involvement service and structure based on its own interpretation of the value for money modal.
Pete Davies was appointed to undertake the role of critical friend and facilitator within part of the review process. The focus of this work was around assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing tenant involvement structure in MHA and developing recommendations for improvement.
The work consisted of:
· Designing and facilitating four workshops in partnership with the Engagement Manager
· To act as a critical friend bringing an independent view to the process whilst challenging the status quo and stimulating thoughts/ideas.
· Producing a report that summarised the findings from the consultations and workshops.
What was achieved:
The formation of a committed working group who agreed the need to review the service.
An engaged working group of tenants and staff who co-produced three draft approaches to the new service.
A report that summarised the findings from the consultations and workshops.
The development of a number of recommendations for the new service.
This was a difficult project to take on because it involved working with a group of extremely involved and passionate tenants who were wary of change. Pete was extremely dedicated to the project and went above and beyond to support the work of the review.
Pete was extremely prompt, efficient and worked extremely well with the tenants and staff. His approachable nature put the group at ease and he was very able to manage difficult, heated debates and was comfortable challenging the status quo.
It was a benefit to the review that Pete was able to bring his experience and knowledge from England across to Wales and relay what changes have occurred in the English housing sector. I strongly believe that this work was an integral part of the project and MHA would not have reached its intended outcome if it wasn’t for Pete’s work. I would strongly recommend him.

SPARK CONFERENCE FACILITATION @ THE SPARK PROJECT: feb ‘19
Pete Davies facilitated for WSCC the SPARK conference Open Innovation and Social Enterprise on 17 January 2019 in Brussels. Prior to the conference he was able to provide some useful suggestions to hone some of the conference content. Pete also produced a report after the event. I was happy with his delivery of the work and with the results achieved.
